There were hundreds of young farm families whose sons and daughters played baseball. The teams were made up of the men and women who knew how to play. The children of Roy Wahl were raised to be baseball players. Kermit was an exceptional person, who developed his baseball skills in a very supportive environment. He took those skills that he developed and the knowledge of baseball he acquired to experience a long career in professional baseball.
“Baseball in Columbia and the Wahl Family are intimately connected. For that reason, we commissioned the publication of this book to concide with the dedication of the Wahl Field at the new Columbia Baseball Park. With this book we hope to preserve some of the history of baseball in Columbia, as the important role the Wahl Family played in it.”
